Inexperienced diyer here at least with heating, be kind. Opinions please on the attached photos. Looking at purchasing this property. This one was built late 1990s and has what looks like original microbore rads and an oldish Ideal Independent C21 combi? boiler. What maintenance or updating would need doing to this system if its 30ish years old? I'm guessing replace the boiler, what about the rest of the system?. PS property is fairly recently refurbished so shame to take up flooring etc

Is it all working okay? If so, just get it serviced and worry about repair/replacement when needed.

As above - if it's not broken then no need to fix it right now. Get a well recommended local CH engineer in to survey and then maintain it for you. he should be able to give you a better idea whether it will need changed sooner rather than later.

The boiler's 14yrs old or younger and if it's been looked after then could last for a while yet. The system, as long as it's clean, will tick along quite happily too

What to do though if you have it , put away a budget to replace it all in a high interest account and forget about it. When it comes time, replace the boiler and get a re-pipe. If no budget right now then start saving as undoubtedly it will need replaced at some point.
