You need to turn off main and drain roof cistern through the bath tap OR get a combi

combi is an option but i was worried about the extra pressure causing a leak in the existing heating pipes.

He wants to get rid of gravity fed tanks. So a mains fed cylinder offers no more than a mains fed high flow combi. Even those off a tank are very limited to combis off a decent mains flow & pressure.
