Please can you settle an argument between me and my hubby. He believes that the house temperature should not fall below 15degC else this will affect the structural integrity of the house. Being cold blooded I'm very much at home even when the temperature is below 10 (and also it reduces heating bills). Our house has solid brick walls and we do suffer from condensation, like the rest of the houses on our street but this is manageable and I ventilate when and where I can. Do I have anything to worry about by keeping temperatures low?

Sorry if this in the wrong section.

Thanks

A low temperature will not affect the structure.

What will be an issue though, is drastically different temperatures over a short period of time, as this will stress components and may cause cracking and differential movement
