Ok. So I have a PC and a Dell laptop at home, both connected to my wireless router and so to the internet, using a WEP passworded open connection.
I have just bought a 2nd hand Macbook Pro. I turned it on, and it finds my network and lists it. I click it to try to connect. It asks for a password and I enter my WEP password and it tries to connect before eventually saying connection failed.
Am I being silly or is it not possible to connect to my wireless router in the same way as if I were using my Dell?

Should be the same. Set your wireless router to temporarily broadcast, then try to connect, then turn the broadcast off!!

Not sure how to set the router to temporarily broadcast on what risks that even involves?

Assuming it is not an 'apple' airport type pf wireless router, try the following,

whatever the passwprd is, type it in in Ascii (?), google that wprd, and try it.

BTW, you have got 'Airport' on. yes?, and say, 5 bars signal strength showing?

Oh, and if that still does not work, cn I make an offer on the Mackbook Pro ;)

:D

Got it sorted thanks. I reset the router and reset the connection encryption and that did the trick.
