I've got a short round metal car park type fence post , I would like to extend it to 5 or 6 ft high so that I can build a featherboard fence on the post.
Would that be possible somehow ?

I wondered about hollowing out a timber post , slotting it onto the metal one and drill and bolting through.
Thanks

Thanks, I'm not there now so will have to measure it, I would say it's around 50 or 60 mm diameter.

No reason that the existing post can't slot into square steel tubing if that's more convenient! A nice snug fit would be great.

Thanks John, I've just been looking at floplast 65mm square down pipe, do you think that might be strong enough ?

Not if it's going to support anything, I'm afraid......down pipe has to be clipped to the wall - it's not self supporting to any degree.
John :)
