How do I attach light fitting needing an earth to old wiring

I need to replace my hall lights. The only wires coming out of the wall are a black and red one. All modern fittings seem to require and earth wire connection. Is there a way I can fit them safely? Heeelp!

you need a double insulated light fitting.

Yes - have the lighting circuit rewired so that you have an earth (that's the only way to use fittings that require an earth safely).

I think I'll go the double insulated route since the wires are chased into the wall and there are four of them.
