Why can't you just wire it into a unswitched fused connection unit?

As riveralt mentioned at the top of the previous page, one of the concerns about many of the ideas being put forward is that they frustate, or even prevent, switching off/isolation of the load concerned ('in emergencies') - and I'm not convinced that is going to be permitted in a 'public place', is it?

I tell my mother again and again the TV will not record if you switch it off but then some health worker will tell her to switch everything off before going to bed and she will.

Yes, or update the freeview.

I have one of those.
There is NOTHING you can do so it will have to be an electric fence - plugged in to the same socket, obviously.
