How do I remove this please?

Looks like the cable mechanism of a Macdee 208 flush valve.
There is a release mechanism on the other side.

The ridge along the top is a hinge, which may help you determine.
Perhaps also, when you get it open, post a clear picture of it open to both this thread and the other thread as an assist to future users - quite often seeing the inside of a confusingly closed thing is very illuminating as to how it should be opened
