Unscrew the pan fixings and any wall fixings through the cistern at the top. The whole lot should pull out to let you separate the cistern from the pan, from underneath, and replace the flush valve.

Ok. if I pull out the pan, am I not disrupting the waste pipe? Basically the bit of water at bottom of the pan and the pipe it is connected too?

It should be a flexible connection for the waste with a flexi for the water as well, it's the only way to make sure they are connected before pushing back into place.

It could be a normal waste connection fitted with some careful measuring and crossed fingers. But it has to come out to change the fill valve. Unless it is part removable from the inside by twisting, and is repairable.

Remove the lid of the cistern and take a look at the flush valve for a start.
Why are you certain the valve needs replacing?

Look forward to a world of pain as you disturb things.
Manufacturers should be banned from producing these things, invariably, you will end up having to pull the pan forward to allow you access to the cistern.
You could get lucky, and be able to swap the flush valve from above, assuming that's the issue.

The fluid master bottom fill valve needs a bolt attached from the bottom. Well that's basically how I see it in their videos

If you already have a fluidmaster fill valve, you can just change the business part of it from inside the cistern and leave the part that is fastened through the base of the cistern in place.

Ah great. But I don't know which brand it is. But maybe I can purchase the one I need. Remove mine and see if I can do what you're suggesting.

It has actually sorted itself out for now. Lol. But I better not get complacent because it'll happen again at the worst possible time.
