Hello my first post so go easy lads/gals

can anyone explain to me how electric works? in laymans terms.

from the where it comes into your house??

thank you :)

Rotate a wire in a magnetic field and you get electricity, thats it!

what i mean is does it come in from a power station at 240v then where does it go?

what about a neutral? where does the power go after its fed something?

from mains box into cu unit out to sockets lights etc back to cu unit into mains box back to power station (i think the neutral goes back to earth)?

Can I ask once you have grasped this rudimental knowledge of the subject how you hope to use it??

electricity is actually compressed smoke and flames. It is generated in power stations that mostly burn coal. The things that look like wires are actually very fine copper pipes carrying smoke at great pressure. When electrical items go wrong, these pipes burst and the smoke comes out, that's why they stop working. The bigger cables carry more smoke, so when they go wrong, you often see a lot of it come out, and sometimes flames leak out of the pipes as well. You can see the effect the flames in the pipe have when you turn on an electric heater or cooker, as they are made of thinner pipes that allow the flames to show through.
