hi i just moved into my new place and had a few rooms skimmed. The plasterer said it should be okay to paint in a few days as it will be dry by then but i was told be a friend said i have to wait 4 weeks before i can paint as the plaster may crack. Please help what do i do listen to the plasterer and paint after a few days or do i have to really wait four weeks.

Your plasterer is correct; if it's jsut a skim (2-3mm) thick), it will be dry enough to paint after a few days.

Your friends 4 week timescale would apply for new plaster work onto bare block/brick which includes an additional base coat (10-12mm thick) which obviously takes much longer to dry out.

thanks richard really apreciate the advice will be painting as soon as its dry.
