Painting new plaster

How long do you wait until new plastered walls are painted with emulsion ?

I have replastered from brick so there is a base coat and skim coat.

I ask because i thought emulsion was breathable (was told so by DIY SOS programme on BBC1). So in a kitchen i did in April this year I painted it only a week after plastering and i know the wall was still not dry. The paint is now flaking off there, so i need to go back and rub it down and repaint.

So i dont want to make the same mistake on this new house.

Wait till the whole wall has dried out and gone pink then give it a couple of coats of watered down emulsion half and half with water. Let it dry then paint as normal.....

I saw that prog . It must be Non Vinyl , or "trade matt /Contract matt " that`s breathable to a point

What about the basic bandq emulsion ? Will that be breathable. It is not vinyl.
