Hi chaps, today I had to extend a circuit to provide a supply for a cooker extractor.

Don't want to go into why extending was the option

Anyway did a lovely crimp and double shrink job and capped over the T&E.

As the kitchen fitter is coming tomorrow I kindly slapped some plaster over the capping so that there would be a dryish finished wall.

Low and behold the moisture from the plaster has caused an earth fault tripping the RCD, matter of waiting for the drying to occur.

Anyway has anyone any experience of how long this process may take to clear???

Or should I go back, rip out the cable and put in 2 new legs??

I would be surprised an earth fault occurred from a crimped connection which had been heat shrinked and covered in capping before plastering.

I was up your way today - Bradford. Working on Euroway Trading Estate, just off the M606.

The moral of this story is to use adhesive lined heatshrink for such applications to get a watertight seal.

Hi GaryMo, know Euro way well 15 mins from mine. Anything interesting?

NO nick or Nail John D

If i'd known of the stuff Plug

I'll sit it out for couple of days

Not really, I was carrying out maintenance of a couple of lathe guards which has been over abused. The company was Klinger International.
I had to travel further into Bradford for supplies (BBN, Leeds Road), near the car garages JCT600? Saw an interesting named Indian restaurant - The 3 Singhs!

Ah The 3 Singhs it is very good, run by a family I used to teach, you were only round the corner from 'screw-you' and CEF.

It was a Rivnut tool and rivnuts I wanted. Ended up costing £51!!
Would've tried Screwfix if I knew they were local.....

big round about at the top of sticker lane where all the JCT600 garages are, take the exit before onto wakefield road. its just on the left there

When in town consult the locals GaryMo

You will have noticed many have similar features to those os Quasimodo and speach is difficult due to their concentration on how to breath.

Still at least your van wasn't torched or stolen, happy days!!!

Where did you go??

The answer to the drying question by the way was 18 hours(ish)

oh yeah BBN
