Hi there, new to forum but doing up house and am a complete novice so will be on here a lot i predict.

Anyway, we've just had our bathroom done and had an extractor fan installed - the only problem is it seems to be on for ages!

Its a low voltage one and comes on with the light switch, but stays on for 30 minutes at a time. Is this normal and is there a way to make it shorter?

Its a manrose btw.

Cheers.

What I have seen do have timers on them.
30 mins is far to long late at night 5 minutes will drive you mad.

Look in the fan casing where the cable is connected, ther will be a cover over connections, remove this and you should see a small adjustable resistor, turn anti clockwise a quarter turn and check overrrun. Repeat if necessary.

The fan should have a timer which is adjustable, but a bathroom extractor fan should be on for 20mins. Mine is and you can't hear it after a while.

It needs to be on until the damp has dried up, or the smell has gone.

A more powerful one will work more quickly.

12v ones are often not very powerful. The weakest fans are usually about 85 cu metres per hour, less if clogged with dust and fluff or if there is a long duct.

Have you got a loft above the bathroom?

Noisy fans may be worn out and can be replaced by new.
