I seem to get 5 yrs max out of a DG unit. The supplier says it's normal.
I'm beginning to think it's 'normal' for him maybe. Googling suggests 10-25yrs!
Yes, that's mould growing nicely inside of the (not so) sealed unit.
The average life of a sealed unit should be 10-15 years, its what they are all tested for ( providing the manufacturer has a licence to manufacture them....yes a licence)
But there is a caveat to this, it depends on the glazing system and how well its glazed. For example no one will warranty a sealed unit in putty , a lot of places won't warranty sealed units in wooden frames ( we, however offer 5 years if glazed with a recognised way ) but in PVc and Aluminium it should be a warranty of 10 years regardless. I dont know any sealed u it manufacturer that doesn't offer 10 years
