I have some new bi-fold jen-weld doors (2100 x 2100mm) to hang into a new opening (into a victorian brickwork wall where there used to be double doors). The new brickwork is a 215x215mm pier on the left, a new lintel (with one course of brickwork above) and some bats on the right set into the original wall.

The carpenter has suddenly told me that i need to leave the brickwork for 1 week before hanging the doors, as the doors will crack the new brickwork - he didnt tell me this last week!!!! That means i will have a hole in my wall over christmas when i am away, a perfect burglar tempatation!

How long should i let the brickwork to go off before putting in the new doors? I was going to leave it for 48 hours (over two nights and one day) - is that enough??

thanks

Will
