Bloomin’ sure.....the Goldie wasn’t standard as it had a fibreglass tank, rearsets etc but would have been worth a bit. Alloy rims, clip ons.....riding it was pure agony

How much force to press out a wheel bearing?

The puller set I got works well. Used my 750mm breaker bar and stillson wrench and the old bearing race pulled straight out.
Just get the right collar, make up the space and away it pulls. New bearing is installed ( in the freezer first) and the hub is pulled back in.

I must confess, I didn’t think this kit looked man enough when I first saw it!

The kit has certainly proved strong enough but credit has to go to the 750mm breaker bar for providing the strong arm.
I spray greased the all the parts so there was no dry metal to metal.

The Bora has been returned c/w new front wheel bearings. o/s rear wheel was binding a bit too and when I looked, one of the pads had broken of the backplate so relined rear brakes with Napa brand pads and discs too.
Actually, the Bora swapped places with my dear niece's Picanto because the n/s front is groaning when the wheel is turned. Hopefully the strut bearing rather than the power steering.

On the rare occasions I've had wheel/clutch release bearings to press in and out, I've chickened out and taken the assembly to a friendly local garage for them to do it for not much more then the price of a few pints.

I hate bearing problems!
Always managed eventually but it can take quite a while.
Some of my worst have been on commercial washing machines in Launderettes with limited space behind.
I think that I have seen some car hubs sold already fitted with new bearings. Apart from the cost that seems like a good idea.

With the puller set I've invested in, I have no reservation doing a wheel bearing job. The damper for me is the weather and getting parts. The local factors don't always have the OE brand for the car.
I watch a few of "South Main Auto Repair" 's videos on YouTube. He has some interesting kit to do wheel bearings in situ.
I mainly watch for the wiring fault finding/ diagnostics video's, he really knows his stuff and nice to see proper diagnostic work.
