Can anyone id the age of this cut out?


And here it is with the broken & insulation taped up cover removed:


Expecting to find a fuse holder and actually seeing this behind the cover brought me out in a cold sweat, lol.

To me it looks like a cast iron dual fused system that has had the fuse holders removed to 'convert' it to live only fusing with a bit of fuse wire wrapped around the live posts. So, are we talking 1920's/30's ish??

Needless to say, I've got WPD coming to replace this next week, lol

no idea - was like it when I moved in.
The insulation tape is all dry and brittle, so I guess it happened a long time ago. Probably when it was rewired last in the late 70's early 80's.
Then again the cream wylex has a wooden back open to the wall, so maybe a tad earlier?

I have seen wodden open backed wylex standards installed in a property which was built as late as early 80's... well late enough that the 2.5mm 6242Y had a 1.5mm CPC... supprised me though, as i thought they were of all plastic construction by then!.

Though I've seen some of the wylex NB boards with 3871 breakers open backed as well... they were supposed to have a bit of paxolin behind them, but wasn't always fitted

Heh, yes it probably would have.
It's all changed now though - got a nice new Henley Series 6.
Took about 2 hours in all to change. He even sweated the earth connection to the lead sheath.

Maybe if it was At Work, but as there's no EAHR, I don't think that's possible in one's home.

(a) to co-operate with his employer so far as is necessary to enable any duty placed on that employer by the provisions of these Regulations to be complied with; and
