I am currently removing kitchen cabinets, flooring, tiles etcetera and revealing the electric arrangement as I go. I now realise that I will need an electrician just to 'tidy' it up as the arrangement behind the cabinets was far below par with wires not actually in the walls. I have today removed the old cooker hood which was wired using a fused spur to a double electric socket switch. I had intended just to remove the extra wiring in the socket but on inspection I decided not to interfere with it and put it on the electricians list. However I still had a live cable going up to the hood position. So I have cut this back to where it comes out the wall. See pic. How should I tidy it up to keep it safe until the electrician can come? I am of course aware that it is in the kitchen so I am thinking of steam. It is behind the new cooker 'still wrapped till electrician arrives' so no one could easily touch the wiring. The double socket is in use... small fridge only. The cable has the old colours black, red and unwrapped copper earth. I have cut the wires off at different heights so they can't easily touch each other.
