Just browsing through my latest (only kidding!) edition of the regs, the 14th edition, published 1/10/66.
Radials were limited:
Radial serving one room only of <300ft² which is not a kitchen can be fed via a 20A fuse in 0.0045in² (equivalent to 2.9mm²) and feed no more than 6 outlets, providing none of them are used to supply fixed water heating appliances.
In rooms other than the above, no more than 2 outlets, or 6 if wired in 0.007in² (equiv. 4.5mm²) on a 30A fuse or CB.
Rings were limited to 1000ft².
