Hi There .

Our old kitchen worktop which we used years ago for a shelf outside in the garden had now rotted away. We need to build a concrete shelf which sits between to brick walls.
I guess we need some sort of wall ties and steel rods that attach to the ties to give us a grid effect for strength !!!!!

Any ideas please Thanks Julea

You need to make a shutter in plywood to form and hold the concrete.

Same principle as baking a sponge - the plywood is the tray, it needs greasing with oil, pour in the mix, add some mesh, and then level off the top.

Google for " cast in-situ concrete slab shuttering"

Thanks for all your ideas

Can you tell me what we would use to support ( attach to brick walls each side) the concrete slab once we have made it.

Thanks again Julea

if you want it permanent cast in some rods one side to the other prop the timber tray in place and cast your concrete shelf (my suggestion)
