How to bypass window alarm contact

I have a new casement window to replace an old sliding window on the 2nd floor of a house.

The old contact will not work on the new window.

Is it possible to bypass the contact by pig tailing the black and red wires together as i have done in the attached picture.

The zone shows as ready when the wires are connected together, but not sure if this considered an acceptable way to complete the circuit.

Pretty much.

Joining both ends where the sensor would be, or in the panel itself.

The advantage at the sensor is if there are any other devices on the same zone they should still work.
