Sorry for the boring question boys but i am a plasterer and i have got few to remove on a job at the weekend. People keep giving me different methods of capping thermostatic values off so i thought i would ask for a professional opinion instead! Any help would be really appreciated.

Depends on make of valve. Some will shut off completely, others have a frost setting as the lowest point.

If you have the decorators cap - a screw on plastic cap which replaces the thermostatic head - then use that and just screw down until it stops.

Alternatively, a small coin or similar can be inserted into the thermostatic head which is then replaced and the valve closed slowly until it stops turning. Always set the valve head to Max/6 when removing or replacing.
