Hi there,

My name is Dewald, I live in Lydenburg, South Africa. I am an avid DIY-er but I need some help with the following:

A few weeks ago I acquired a set of stunning Martin Logan Electrostatic Loudspeakers. These speakers doesnt have cabinets - only a solid oak frame surrounding the ESL cell. These speakers go second -hand for nearly 2000 euros in Europe...

The previous owner tried his hand at the DIY "thing" and lightly sanded the frames. He then covered it in a crude varnish which is horrible. The wood also sustained some UV damage as it is blotched.

How can I revive the wood's color? There is some varnish in the grain.

I have sanded the frames down with some 120 grit paper but the varnish is stubbourn.

If the wood are going to stay blotched then what stain would you recommend?

Kind regards
Dewald
