ive built this decking and the corners are not perfectly cut or have expanded/contracted. I was plannng to put an angled moulding but it is not wide enough. Can I use a caulk/sealant and then use the decking stain that I’ve used elsewhere?
Thanks @Tigercubrider
I would like to avoid the aluminium angle if possible and thought I had the largest wooden angle available. Back to the drawing board...
scroll down to the end of the PDF for the range of grey silicones.
However be aware that you are likely to end up with hairline cracks because of expansion/contraction.
Most decent decorators' merchants or tiling shops will sell Mapei but there may be a lead time of a day or two for the shade that you need, alternatively go to
You can't apply stain over silicone but you could use a MS polymer such as clear CT1. The caveat being that you need to apply waterbased finishes over if first- oil based paints take months to cure when applied directly over MS polymers.
A tube of clear CT1 will be about £10.
Thinking about it... if your stain is indeed water based it may be quicker to use the silver coloured CT1.
if you are planning any handrails off any sort the newels could cover and support the join
does the construction method allow you to overtighten those joints a bit to hold them closed ???
