How to fit lead into a rendered wall?

Hi all,

I am having a friend make an apex shape door canopy for my cottage. My house is rendered and I would like to know if cutting into the render is enough depth for the lead flashings. I have seen brick houses with the lead staggering down brick by brick, hence my uncertainty of having a straight line into the render only.

Thanks in advance,
J

You would have a straight flashing with render, as otherwise the render can't be finished at stepped flashing.

But the flashing is chased into the wall not into the render.
