Hello,

Without boring you with the details, the wardrobe door got wrenched off its hinges, and a couple of the holes that the fitting screws into (on the wardrobe itself) are a bit broken.

I can't just use a thicker screw, because the screws are pretty thick diameter already (5 or 6mm), and the screw goes through the fitting and into the wood so can't be any wider. And I don't have any longer screw of the samem diameter.

Pretty poor explanation I know...but the screw hole is probably now 7 or 8 mm, for a screw a couple of mm smaller.

What can I do to remedy this?

Depends on hinge type, you can fill with repair putty or car body filler then push a matchstick into it before it sets at screw positions.
