To cut a long story short, I am after some Vinyl Silk emulsion which I ordered in my local B&Q Trade Point. The 10l pots were branded "Leyland Trade Contract Silk", but the barcode label said it was a Vinyl Emulsion. Seemed dodgy to me so I went to another branch, same scenario. This time I bought the emulsion.

Now, how do I know if it is a Vinyl Silk as opposed to 'Contract' Silk?

Contact the manufacturer and then you'll know for sure.

Agree with RMS the only sure way is to contact the manufacturer i have had this problem before with labels not providing adequate information.
