When measuring the horizontal offset height between a toilet outlet and a soil pipe where do you measure from?

Do you measure from the floor to the toilet spigot inside lip or do you measure from the floor to the outside edge?
Or is it better to measure to the mid point of the outlet?

Trying to work out if our toilet has the right fall or whether perhaps I should get a different one.

Thanks

Macalpine do adjustable (offset) pan connectors so there is room to adjust for the fall. I measure from floor to mid point of both.

Toilets don’t have a fall, the pipe work does.

Measuring from the floor to the mid point on both the toilet outlet and soil pipe is 180 mm.
The horizontal distance between the two is 30 cm.

could this be a problem?

The floor is slightly uneven so it’s possible the toilet outlet will be slightly higher but can’t really tell until I remove old toilet

The off set connectors should be fine for that, just buy the product and test fit

An off set connector? Just to be clear the midpoint of toilet outlet and soil pipe is the same height i.e.
180mm.
Wondering if I either need to buy a different toilet or put the current one on a piece of ply wood to get a downward slope.

Shouldn’t make a difference for that short distance with power of the flush

O.k thanks. If I cut the soil pipe a bit closer to the wall I think I can gain a slope of 5 mm.

Plastic packers used to level the pan can also help adding a bit of height

Great thanks. Will give it a go. A friend suggested lowering the soil stack a tad. I think he was suggesting I'd hire him to do it. Another option if I get stuck

Good luck, it is both rewarding and hugely money saving to do the bigger diy jobs yourself

Thanks. Yes, it's a big learning curve at times but the money saved makes up for it(y)

In case anyone is interested. I looked up building regulations part h1 table 2 covers soil pipes.
