I have an approx 1cm diameter hole in an outside lavatory drain pipe, I have no idea how it got there but it was previously plugged with a piece of wood which has now came out and I want to plug it properly.

I previously just put on some bathroom sealant temporarily, but it is now leaking and I need something more permanent.

I have heard of this stuff : J-B Water Weld Epoxy Putty
Would this be a good solution ?

Or any other suggestions, thanks

It is a metal outside drain pipe running down outside wall of house

The epoxy might be a good idea then. If it was plastic you could have patched it with some solvent and a piece of plastic.

Another option is to get a 'Flexseal' type coupling of appropriate size, cut lengthways, wrap around the pipe and tighten jubilee clips. Not pretty, but if all else fails....

This hole might have being drilled to access the soil stack to jet the stack/drain line, it's what I do as a last resort. I then do as Hugh says and fit a fernco coupling over it.
