A car port being converted, already has a room above that has a wood floor. I have experience of how noisy wood floors can be but I'm not so much worried about footfall, more conversation, music and tv.
There is also a lightweight thin walled pressed steel joist that did support a wall but now only supports the ends of half of the 1st floor joists. So I need to plasterboard that too.
I was going to just board it all with insulated plasterboard, but how thick? I suppose the board with 50mm insulation might not be very flexible, but perhaps some felt batten to the underside of the joists might help accommodate any level differences there?
Perhaps thinner insulation would be sufficient? Drywall screw fixings to the joists?
