How to turn off under floor heating?

We had UFH installed when we had a new kitchen extension. In order to lower our high energy usage, we want to turn it off but cannot work out how to.
The plumber who installed it left no instructions. I am very sure it is gas and not electric. There is a wall-mounted thermostat (Drayton Digistat 3), which is specifically for the UFH only, but we cannot get this to set at less than 5 degrees.

It is horrifying to think about how much gas is being used unnecessarily to heat it, particularly for all those times when we are not in the room or house.

Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks

Surely if you set it to 5 degrees it shouldn't ever come on anyway as the background temperature in your house would always be higher?

One would think so, but it still comes on. Maybe the thermostat is broken.

More likely its not connected properly.

My view is that you may need a professional to come and see how its connected and how to set it.

A Digistat receiver is a simple on/off device. If connected correctly it should turn off the UFH completely.

unfortunately underfloor isnt on and off. if you switch it off and goo out for the day it can takes hours to get going again. having said that turning the wall thermostat down should switch it off. until it fixed switch the boiler off.

Sounds like yet another problem caused by letting a builder get involved in heating systems.

For those who don't know they don't pay the plumbers they use and so most are unqualified/unregistered and end up doing a bad job!

Apart from the thermostat, is there no timer/programmer for the heating?
