How would you get around this?

1. x Tre mercanti P trap 718E

Received the Tre mercanti P trap today (from a different supplier) and the neck on the trap is longer and therefore has solved that particular problem!

The one thing that I have noticed that there is a removable (unscrewable) 'collar' on the Tre mercanti and it looks like the original P trap had a removable one as well (see photo). I don't know if I had just changed the collar for a longer one, that would have solved my problem?

Now onto my next problem (the chrome waste pipe measures about 35mm, but the P trap is for a 40mm).........

gee that looks horrid, the water tails are pukka too.

I'm pretty happy with how the bathroom ended up, particularly as it was the first bathroom I've done (and therefore the first freestanding bath that I've fitted).
