How's your luck with Premium Bonds?

Yes, because there is no other way of reinvesting the holding in PB's again.
How long do you hold the block of £50k in for as i know people with that amount who have never won more than around £400 in a month and i believe they have had them for years...

Depending on the yield over 10yrs, I would move if the holding was not performing to expectations. I've held PB's since my g'mother Betz gave my 1st block of £50 to me and I've grown the pot to max since then. She gave all of her g'children £50 each from her own PB win, so I saw the wisdom of PB's but the others squandered theirs .. fools! I am 82 and if still around at 90, the complete holding will be cashed in for family purposes. If I don't make 90 then obviously the holding will have to be surrendered and the sum added to my estate.

I know somebody with a holding of £20k, who won £50k earlier this year

Premium bonds are loved by the rich as they can afford to max out their holdings in the hope their wins give a reasonable return

The less well off probably can’t afford to accumulate enough bonds to make buying them make any sense

from a 2022 article .
NS&I says every bond is included in the draw each month. It says that in the past eight years, since it started recording the data, 376,535 bonds have won more than once. One of these bonds has won four times.

Random numbers are like that.

I know they are supposed to be random but I always seem to do well at first with them and it then tails off and they seem to go stale. Problem is, if you take 'em out and buy a fresh lot, you miss one monthly draw.

I did well this month with my fresh max allowance and Mrs Motties full allowance goes into next months draw. We'll see….

The thing is by taking them out you never know if they would have been winners so its all supposition.
Not like the lottery were you can still see if your numbers would have come up
