Humming from boiler

I have an Ideal Classic (3/4 years old) which has developed a mechanical hum. The boiler is still working OK but I would be interested as to know whether I am doing any more damage in continuing to use it and would also like to know wjhat the problem may be. My guess (although I know nothing about boilers) is that it is faulty fan.
Can anyone help / advise. Thanks.

Either the gas valve or fan. Most likely the gas valve, as long as it works fine might as well leave it.
