Huntley

People who commit crimes against women and children are usually kept together. I.E. away from the mainstream prisoners.

Animals like this are normally, kept in a cell of their own, under high security, to prevent harm coming their way by other inmates, as the wing will house other such beasts. But they will not be confined to the cell 24/7 and interaction with other inmates is possible, at meals times, exercise and education and even at times they are demonstrating religious beliefs in the church/chapel area.

or is it likely to be another child killer kept on the same wing who for reasons of their own wants to be rid of him?

Who cares why, it was still a nice bit of news to brighten the day a bit after the footie.

Isn't revelling in the physical damage towards a member of the same species as oneself somewhat hypocritical. Aren't you getting the same thrill and kick that huntley got when he did what he did? :?

Dex, i suspect you're playing devil's advocate..... but what a daft thing to say ... it's about justice...these guys who torture kids, in the old days would be appropriately dealt with.... these days, we have to be humane... ultmately i think the natural stance is to want these animals to be dead.... what's wrong with that?

Imam, what I said is daft and intended as a discussion point (it was just so successful :? ). But there is still something nagging in the back of my mind - we think of Huntley as an animal whose ilk we wish did not exist and indeed we get a bit of a "buzz" at the thought of someone attacking him. It's this "buzz" that's worrying me, a bit like when we watch two boxers in a ring and revel when one punches the lights out of the other. This feeling must surely be similar to what huntley had. If it's so bad, why do we feel it? :?

you feel the buzz? i never said i did...i'm not even sure what it is. i reckon justice in this country is seriously lacking... person A given life for a serious crime..... and within 12 years visits a parole board, and walks free.... but for me, a human who takes away a life.... should at least lose theirs !

You've never felt that feeling of happiness and jubilation when something happens which satisfies some kind of aggressive emotion inside you? Difficult to put into words.

should at least lose theirs !

But if they are behind bars they have already lost their life , have they not?
If huntley had been executed he wouldn't be suffering now.

So ultimately jail is the best punishment. Providing of course they stay there until old and dead.

like seeing the school bully (who'd made yours and your friends' life a misery)... get beaten up by your girlfriends older brother.....?

Dex, it's just called justice. You're referring to a sense of persocution... like getting a kick out of setting fire to your friends pet rabbit!

Justice isn't wrong... !

Those analogies makes sense Imam. Are you so sure that that feeling some might get when they hear of Huntleys injuries isn't also satisfaction from persecution?

As for "justice" - what does that mean? Revenge?

Not sure he has lost his life in same way, ask the kids parents if it is.

he probably has Sky TV, playstation, access to PC etc etc etc

That's spot on.

Huntley hasn't lost his life, he's lost his freedom (to some extent). I guess some would argue that freedom is a pretty large part of your 'life', but they are not the same thing.

And I suspect he'll get his freedom back before he's old and dead.

They reckon he's in line for £10k compensation as the prison authorities failed to provide him with a 'duty of care'.
