HW diaphram - Potterton performa 28

Hi,

I want to check my HW diaphram is ok as the taps have to be on full before the boliler kicks in. Can you tell me what I have to do before I can remove the cover to check it - drain down sequence etc.
I have changed this in the past but cant remember the sequence of events.
 
Turn off cold mains under boiler and open hot tap to release pressure.

Turn off mains to boiler also.

Remove diaphragm front cover assembly with a small tray underneath to catch remaing dribbles of water.
 
There is no point in checking it!

If you open it you should replace it as merely opening it is likely to cause it to fail.
