People in Manchester can now volunteer to have Government issued ID cards. Have read that they will cost £30 or £60, not sure which is correct.

Why would anyone pay good money for something they don't need?

my driving licence id's who i am.

are sure it's you??

as every ID produced so far has at some time been forged, I fail to see how this will be different, especially if a certain Company has to administor it. they have Fouled up on most things they have touched!

Will it stop the influx of migrants / illegal immigrants. No I don't believe it will

But has it expired?

Just found out that mine expires next year. £1000 fine if I forget to renew it.

No one, not even DVLC told me that it would expire, I found out by chance. Check your expiry date, if it was issued more than 10 years ago, it may well have expired.

one of mine expires 2009 and one at 2012

and yes i did know that the photo cards only last 10 yr but i was told they noify you 2 months before like other licences.

just looked it up and it said 2 months
but as you say never rely on what they say. i'll find out soon when mine runs out in july

should do they do for other groups.

As it's Manchester, are these ID's so that people can now use them to buy guns and crack without having to prove age?

Can they be used for buying car radios too?

This is the standard ID photo for those parts

don't the cards have bio-metric data on them?
I thought that was the idea..

otherwise what's the point..
as already said we've already got 2 other goverment issued forms of ID we can obtain for use..

though history has shown us that nothing is un-forgeable..

don't the cards have bio-metric data on them?

Yeah, fingerprints at least.

We people of Greater Manchester are not going to volunteer our own cash to get one!

Why should we pay directly out of our own pockets for this?

What will the Government do if very few folk apply for one?

We voted against congestion charging and we'll show this tinpot scheme the door, too!

F.O. GORDON!

everyone who is on the dole should get one free, it would speed up the signing on process for a start..
swipe the card, finger on the pad, off you go... no need for people behind the desk to check a signature...
