Got the job that i applied for my induction starts on the 3rd September in Leeds.

A few words of advice! Whether you want them or not!

You are starting a very good career prospect but how far you get depends on accepting the training seriously and being completely customer focussed. They pay the bills!

Dont take too much notice of the ex-BG guys. They could not stand the pace and the need to be cost effective and meet targets.

They are always targets. No one will complain if you dont meet then because you were doing things properly.

If you work a little longer to get something finished then so what? You may get home an hour later with no overtime but so what? You will get much more satisfaction having helped people.

yes but from what ive heard it is now totally geared towards the quality of your work with absolutely no penalty for returning with parts. so getting the job done properly should now reap the rewards.

Nickso/ Olski when your talking about manipulating the figures.One of the best ones that went about when the push was to get chargeable work in. Was on 3 star jobs raise a chargeable parts only job on lap top for any screw /clip etc that cost less than a quid and arrange for a bill to be sent main computer would not send any bill for less than a quid, . Patch got job count on chargeable work but no money coming in. These field managers where getting touted as the dogs boll#xs till someone realised hang on thousands of jobs no money.

I agree and thats why BG has got into the difficulty of having a high propertion of the workforce in places like London without very much experience.

The targets were based on experienced guys who before the culling made up the majorproportion of the workforce.

However, I do see a significant number of ex-BG guys on these forums who left because they did not like the constant hassle of meeting targets based on a service consisting of just an FGA test when doing the job properly would involve opening the combustion chamber.

so what is the induction process and how long does it usually take?

Gasright in the old days it used to a tour of the head office/stores etc to see how all the departments worked together spending a few hours in each department, then speaches from different managers. It lasted a week

Agile i doubt anyone purely on servicing would find it difficult to hit targets. What happens is they throw several breakdowns in and fit partss with no proper time allowance given,....

Can you do a full draindown fit pump and valves refill and makesure everything is heating properly . In approx 40 minutes. This is what BG throw at there guys . I very much doubt you would have finished tellin the customer that you where within the top 100 engineers in the country in that time

I seem to recall people saying that they have to do 11 services in an 8 hour day to meet the target!

A proper service including opening the combustion chamber must take at least 35 min and then there is travelling between sites.

A BBU takes anyone doing it properly 1.25 hours but I met someone working for a contractor for a council who was given just 22 minutes including a CP12.

I did not think much of the canteen at Leeds!
