I got the job with british gas

Well I use a cheapo gas sniffer (£30 type) to see if the main burner's shut off, because I can't be bothered to close off the pilot. It detects a very small let-by. Don't suppose that's in anyone's "procedures".

Me ol Ma's got a bbu and it gives me something to play with when I go there (about once a year). Doesn't stop her talking, though. I always look through and test-brush the flueways but there's never anything in there. It all comes out, because she's got cats and several wooly cardies. The TC is the big fat original which will probably outlast a normal cheap replacement so that stays. Pilot jet, if needed, is the only fiddly bit really. I don't suppose the lot takes more than 20 minutes including the fire (a couple of minutes) because I'm familiar. (Ha)
A tightness/gas rate check at the meter, which is the usual ordeal by ironing board, cat carriers, objectionably cream plastic buckets and strangely scented dusters, does take a few minutes more.
Ten like that a day in the same street? Bring 'em on. Easy money. I'm not saying I'm quick at all - something "decorative" I've never seen, full of soot, would have me faffing and moaning for a couple of hours. As others have said, it depends how many you do.

If someone's paying me to service a boiler, that's what I do. If you want to go through the whole house checking radiators, into the loft to check the f/e, or whatever other random things, it probably means you're some sort of nutter. Imho.

But then most of us are.

will make a change from fitting meters then gasright?

????

Very confused about that mate. Have never fitted meters?

from reading your past posts, maybe its you that should be fitting em, if you passed your MET1 that is.

have you learnt how to check an APS yet?

Firstly, if a gas valve is letting by to pilot or main burner then a gasco will find it. No need to put a test on.

All broken joints are tested by LDF, as you do this after removing a test nipple.

Secondly, Southern Gas allowed 186 minutes for every drain down. When your on piece work this proved very handy!

Hi all

Got the job that i applied for my induction starts on the 3rd September in Leeds.

Big deal. Don`t expect to function or carry out any tasks properly as an engineer. You won`t get the time. If you have any hair now, rip it out & lock it up for future reference. Don`t expect any help from the established inmates, they are all ass*holes. ( just make sure your tongue is bigger).

dont worry about bamber. hes just bitter that he couldnt handle the pace.
you get as much time as you need.

I am bitter. The bast*ards sacked me after thirty years service. All because I enjoyed setting pensioners on fire. Unbelievable.
