Hello,
I'm fitting a new engine into a ride on mower, it used to be Briggs and Stratton and this one is a Honda gcv 530. It fits fine but the piece in the photo gets in the way of the steering rod. I am assuming that it is the oil drain with a bolt at the end to remove for doing this. If it were 2-3 shorter it would not get in the way and I wondered if I can either get a shorter piece or remove it completely at A and put a bolt in where drain "tube" originally joined the engine. I would then obviously have to rig up something to facilitate draining oil when I need to
Thanks in advance for any advice

It looks as if that part which is in the way, is just an extension tube for the drain. Maybe added for a particular application of the engine, so it should be removable using a pair of stillsons gripping the tube. The plug on the end of the tube, looks too small so you would maybe need to buy a new one with the proper sized thread from a Honda dealer.

Thanks Harry, you have pretty well confirmed what I thought but I really appreciate your advice/input. Cheers

As per Harry, and I think the plug you need is 92800-20000.
20mm diameter I think, so unscrew the extension and measure the thread diameter.
Not the easiest item to stock, but Lings can supply.
John :)

Thank you also John, I may have other questions in the future I hope you will both be happy to give me further advice. Cheers
J

Gosh! Small world! I had almost exactly the same problem recently on mine, swapping a Briggs & Stratton for a different Briggs & Stratton! I just put a small dog-leg in the steering rod on mine.
