I've just had my 1954 semi re-roofed. The house has a hip roof.
A dry ridge system was used.
But they used mortar in a couple of places: at the bottom of the hips and where the ridge meets the hips.
I went in the loft, and I could see daylight in two small areas.
The roofer fixed one - it was caused by a damaged tile.
He could not find anything wrong in the other problem area.
It about half way along the front hip rafter.
There is a region about 6" long where I can get my hand on top of the rafter. The membrane is loose there and light comes in.
(Elsewhere on the hip rafters something is clearly fixed to them so I can't put my hand on top.)
Also: at least 10 batten nails have missed the rafters, but he says that is ok.
And there are a coupe of random holes in the membrane which are big enough to get my finger through and touch the bottom of the tiles.
