Does anyone have experience of these?

http://www.saveonheatingbills.co.uk/

They seem sensible.
They look ugly!

I need to buy thermostatic valves anyway so was thinking of putting a couple in.

They only work when the heating system is on, so the benefit would be that during the day I could set the bedrooms to be off on the valves so if I was working from home and needed to boost the heating the bedrooms wouldn't get heated unnecessarily.

I am currently putting rockwool in all the floor and wall voids so there is insulation between rooms.

So yes, has anyone used them or have an opinion?

An opinion ? well must admit we have never used them , I beleive Honey well came up with a similar set ?? up some while back if I remember correctly theres were radio controlled?? that could be controlled from a central control panel ??? I think ! so each valve room could be controled proggramed ect (I think ?)

The valves in your post look ok to me ? there not that expensive are they ? give em a go , report back in a few months & let us know :)

Ha ha, well I have no 'before' to tell you if they made an improvement. I worry about fitting untested technology, but I guess a couple won't break the bank.

Hi, I've used Honeywell Rondostats a few times before, they work well, but I have to get them imported from Germany which is a hassle.
These Terrier ones are new and the only ones available on the UK market asfaik. I noticed they were selling them in plumbfix recently.
I'd be interested as to how you get on, although i may try a few myself soon. The pegler trv valve bodies tend to be very reliable so thats a good start.

If you are working from home is it too much of a chore to turn down the TRVs in the rooms not being used?

Tony

I pay the bills so I'd be happy to remember to do it, but if for example you rent rooms out, or have stroppy teenagers they might not want you going into their bedrooms to turn off their rads, and if you then forgot to turn them back on they'd be cold that evening.
I think with new technology like this someone has to take a risk and try it out; to be fair I was hoping that someone wasn't me and someone else had experience of them, but they aren't much more than a normal trv and they sound sensible.
I think I might get 3 for the bedrooms, roughly £40 more than Danfoss trvs, and see what I think. I'll get one at Screwfix and see if they look well made- Peglar are a decent brand I think, then buy them for £25 each online.

If I was your teenager then I would find a way to stop you turning off my heating when I am in bed.

Even if the settings were passworded, all I would need to do is to unscrew the head to get the heating on.

Hi Agile,
Thankfully I'm not old enough to have a teenager! I was just considering a new product and thinking about how it might be of use to different people. I think people would have to be onboard with the idea, but most people are these days with the idea of saving money if not saving energy. Except maybe for stroppy teenagers, but then I am only guessing on that one!

Honeywell do a similar system comprising the CM920-series wireless controllers and HR80UK heads. New building regs mean they'll probably be popping up all over the place soon
