I think there is a great question mark as to whether what they were trying to do Renee was within their powers.

Yes, they are definitely federal law enforcement. But the bit that I found most interesting is the limit on their powers over US citizens.

There was a big thing that ICE agents were wearing jeans and plain clothes with face coverings including balaclava's, big uproar so now they have to wear police vests with police ICE on them, they may also have to take the face coverings away but unlikely.

But they are federal law enforcement. It is confusing but when you cut through it like I have analysing everything in a methodical way, it all makes sense. They are also used in riots and other areas where law and order needs enforcing other than immigration duties.
