ICE told to get the eff out

Think you are becoming delusional now and a bit mental

Perhaps, I was pushing the envelope. But I don't think what I wrote is actually wrong. You can see all this by combining the video I posted from across the street with the POV video. Everything makes sense when you watch them both.

Anyway, I have learnt something this evening thanks to Highway Man and carman. I had just assumed that the ICE agents had normal police powers over US citizens. But they actually don't. I think there is a great question mark as to whether what they were trying to do Renee was within their powers.

Thank you, you have restored my faith in common sense. Carman thinks they are not federal law enforcement but you as a legal eagle agrees with me. Oh forgot to add a bloody lefty too ;)

Yes, they are definitely federal law enforcement. But the bit that I found most interesting is the limit on their powers over US citizens.

OMG, I'm learning all sorts this evening:

AI Overview

ICE agents wear vests labelled "POLICE" (or similar) as a deceptive tactic, a "ruse," to impersonate local law enforcement, tricking people into opening doors or giving information, since they lack standard uniforms and face criticism for anonymity, leading to controversy over transparency and public trust in immigration enforcement. While they use these vests for tactical reasons (protection) and to avoid being identified and threatened ("doxxed"), it blurs lines with local police and raises concerns about misrepresentation during home entry.

I think @motorbiking might find this interesting because he mentioned they wore 'Police' vests earlier today.

There was a big thing that ICE agents were wearing jeans and plain clothes with face coverings including balaclava's, big uproar so now they have to wear police vests with police ICE on them, they may also have to take the face coverings away but unlikely.

But they aren't police! It's all very confusing. The vests should just say 'ICE'.

But they are federal law enforcement. It is confusing but when you cut through it like I have analysing everything in a methodical way, it all makes sense. They are also used in riots and other areas where law and order needs enforcing other than immigration duties.

ICE officers do not have the same power as state or local police. While they are federal law enforcement officers, their authority is specialized and subject to different legal constraints.

Key Differences in Authority (as of 2026)

  • Subject Matter Jurisdiction: ICE agents enforce federal immigration and customs laws. Unlike local police, they do not have the authority to enforce state or local laws, such as traffic violations (e.g., speeding or DUIs) or common state crimes like residential burglary.
  • Authority Over Citizens: ICE has very limited authority over U.S. citizens. They may only detain a citizen in rare cases, such as if the individual is assaulting an officer or interfering with a lawful arrest.
