Hi can anybody help before i call in a plumber. My Boiler fires up as normal but then cuts out (pilot still stays alight)...I then reduce the temperature on the thermostat until it fires up again...but then that cuts out (pilot still stays alight) and so until its basically off...would it be a problem with the thermostat?.....However when i remove the Probe attatched to the thermostat from its casing it fires up at a terrific and dangerous rate, and i obviously shut it down manually. could it be a problem within the casing the probe is fitting into?....

Any advice would be much appreciated

Do NOT tamper with the thermostat! It is switching the boiler off as the water in the boiler is likely hot enough! You removing it will cause the boiler to heat the water until it is boiling, this is a potentially extremely dangerous situation.....

Most likely you have either a lack of water in the system or the pump is faulty. Could you give a few more details on your system? I assume you are not getting heat at the radiators or why fiddle with the boiler?

Hi, yes your correct, the only radiator that was heating up was in the bathroom, although someone advised me that this would be connected to the hot water system.
