Ideal Icos boiler noise - scary!

Blocked or partially blocked Heat Exch. or Air/Gas ration needs adjusting
TBH should be straight forward enough to sort out!

Sorry picasso I got bored hole in the flue? that would do it!!
supprised this problem wasn't picked up by the visiting engineer sooner??

Well flue has been replaced - and guess what - the noise remained!!!!

Condesate pipe was blocked apparantly and the flue had a hole in it approx 1 inch wide!

Seems my post got deleted regards burner box gasket causing said issues , something the RGI will surely check.

Burner assembly is fixed @ front @ back with no fixing to sides , due to the pretty thin material used they tend to distort , howling noise is usually only heard when boiler fires from cold , once warmed burner hood/assembly expands & howling goes away.................FGA confirmed this & appliance was labeled ID.

What was the reason above post was deleted? (posted again) , if contrary to the rules on here then i won't post similar issues , considering time & effort are for free...........................please advise?

The site rules says that you should not give advice which might encourage a DIYer to do some gas work.

That seems to me to be a clear example of information which might well encourage a DIYer to have a go.

Wouldn't say it was advice but more so what the problem could be , the OP already mentioned hole in flue , doesn't mean to say OP will start removing flue assembly , anyone can download service/maintenance instructions from internet...........................seems to be a very fine line between diagnosis & advising the OP how it's done. :D
