hi i have an ideal isar boiler workng ok
the house in question is empty waiting and for a tenant to move in soon and i switched off the boiler controls completley to save money.
however , with the cold snap i decided to go down today and turn it back on so that if there was a frost my pipes dont burst . the room thermostat (honeywell ) programmer was set to 'off' on the honeywell which is on the wall in the poorch near the door.
however when i turned on the control on the boiler on the isar, the radiators came on and the pre-heat for hot water and the 'c' was displayed even thought the honeywell programmer was off ,so i switched it off (the boiler)and switched the on the programmer to ''on'and then off
when i switched the boiler the again 'c ' button dispplayed and then the normal things pre-heat water ect and then back to '0' and the green button on the wall conmtrol for the honeywell went off
i stayed there for some time and it(the boiler ) stayed like that in the'0' position i also turned the radiotors down to 2 just in case they came on when im not there !
do you think it was just going through the frost potection mode as it has been very very cold empty property and just warming the pipes to protect the boiler ? i called isar and i got different info
bofriend says to leave it
but im not sure if i shlould just go and check it again tomorrow - but i do libve a train journey away but if anyone can help
the boiler had been off for over a week in the cold and property completley empty
i was at two minds on weather to shut it down on leave on but i was worried about pipes but any advice the therm and boiler are five years old and have been working fine in the past no probs
