Ideal Logic C30 8 years old. Hive connection.

I'm not sure if you have the same problem that I had (or yours might be a wiring issue?) but I've spoken with Ideal Heating, they have confirmed the old receiver was interfering with the Hive controls. The receiver needs to be removed and replaced with a Timer Link Plug. This will allow the boiler to only listen to the Hive calling for a demand.

For me, I've ordered the timer link plug and will get my engineer to fit this on.

For the time being I left the old Ideal thermostat switched on at full temp and constant on. Seems to be a valid work around for the Hive.

I have seen this done on what must be a slightly older version of my boiler, the connections were different and the typical screw down connection blocks. From all I can gather my model / year does not have this connector plug, rather there is a simple red cable link.

If on fitting the old thermostat some link plug was removed, you may be unaware. Have you downloaded the instructions for the old thermostat to see if when fitting it some link plug is removed?

Mine has link wire on the room stat/ timer and a timer option plug inside timer option cover when it comes from factory. That what it says in manual. It's a 2025 version though
