I,ve got a problem with a response , e.g the fluestat has tripped out , am I correct to say ? that these fluestats were installed on the responses as part of an Ideal recall , due to probs ' with the heat exc , am I also correct ? that ideal will not supply replacement fluestats ?

not sure they wont supply a new one. the boiler doesnt need it to work and is easily disabled.

chances are if its tripped the heat exchanger has burst its top, you need to get it properly checked out, then bend over and wait for the price of a new H/E to do its damage. :o

that will be another pointless part Ideal fit that has no safety critical point,

i give you...........THE B.I.M

any guesses

im crap at guessing games......is it.....boiler installation manual?

no Nickso

an actual part fitted in some Ideal boilers that connects to the PCB

when it goes fritzed boiler no worky

it has no function concerning fan, aps, pressure switch, ntc`s, gas valve

it has no function, but they cost £63 + vat

no takers then.....

B.I.M

Boiler Identification Module

fitted to Minimiser 60s and upwards, gets "set" just before it leaves factory, to confirm that it has not been stolen from manufacturer!!!!!!!!

my thoughts exactly

could not work out WTF was wrong with that Minimiser

phoned Ideal tech, talked them through it, geezer says " its the BIM"

me "whats a BIM"
him "Boiler Identification Module"
me "whats it do"
him"its activated on departure from factory,to prevent theft"

me "what part of the boilers operation is it linked to"
him "none"

me "well can you send me one FOC"

him "no"

me to chief planner "dont fit Ideals"

Ideals not fitted by my company, and we fitted 2600 in the last 4 years

B alls to em

er am i missing something or does the name of this module defeat the purpose? if i can buy one over the counter how does it stop theft?

Transam - I'm with nickso. It's imho a pretty pointless part. (Flue stat that is).
You could faff about but your boiler's probably dead.
You're in the combustion chamber to get at anything so it's all Gas Registered Bloke territory.
These things go bang without being mishandled!

I have further imfo ' apparently these flue stats were fitted as part of an ideal recall , due to heat exc' problems , the models effected were the response 80 , 100 , 120 , & ff80 , henrad cc80ff , cc100ff,& cc120ff , the fault was heat exc ' baffle . the stat is non resettable , & Ideal state that in the event of a failure , they should be contacted ?? , I am not certain but my imfo suggests that ideal , had to agree to this policy , due to the involvement of trading standards ??? . who ever dreamt up this particular design of boiler , should in my view be shot !!

tHe stat was fitted to responses as a safeguard should the hex top plate fail. It was to prevent the boiler staying on should the plate have failed. It is actually resetable but if it is failing then it's doing it's job properly and a hex is required.
Do not remove or bridge out as you would be contravening gas safety regs.

I have never seen or heard of them being fitted to C80FFs or any other models other than the Responses.

It seems that if they have tripped you are left in a "no way out" situation.

just to comfirm , the following text was taken from a British gas publication 'Aspect ' dec 2005 , issue 219 ,title of article Ideal flue overheat kit rework . quote ' The prob ' is being managed by the introduction of an overheat stat kit to be fitted within the flue duct . the boilers affected are

Response 80 , 100 , 120 , Response FF80 , Henrad CC 80 FF , Henrad CC100FF , Henrad 120FF .
G.C numbers can be supplied if any one is interested .
